Database of Plant Molecular Weights and Isoelectric Point of proteome

Database Summary

The PlantMWpIDB database contains the data of plant molecular weight (MW) and isoelectric point (pI) data of 13.829 million protein sequences from 342 plant species. The annotated protein sequences of species from NCBI (National Center for Biotechnological Information), Phytozome, and Uniprot were used to calculate the molecular weight and isoelectric point. From 342 plant species, 147 were from NCBI and Phytozome database, whereas 195 species were from Uniprot database.

The molecular weight and isoelectric point of protein are the important biochemical parameters that are highly important in various proteomics techniques including mass spectrometry, 2-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D-PAGE), and isoelectric focusing. At the cellular level, their molecular weight and charge enable us to predict their potential sub-cellular location and potential function.
